This contemporary gallery, placed in a renovated formerly industrial setting, speaks of America’s shift from a traditional, industrial society into a fast-paced digital world. Hyper-modern materials and forms seem to rip through and take over traditional materials and structures. These forms provide a sense of obtrusion and instability and eventually touch the reminders of our industrial past with grace, suggesting cooperation between past and present. Research for this project included interviews with four Minneapolis gallery owners to insure maximum functionality and flexibility in its three versatile exhibition spaces for the display of art, sales and storage of pieces, flow of events, and lighting.
