57 Belair Dress

This textile blocked dress, made of silk chiffon, wool; cotton rib knit jersey, leather, and linen was inspired by the 1957 Chevy Bel Air. Its influence was most prominent in the dresses unique seaming. Aspects of the car, ranging from the shape of the tail fins to the curve of the dash board, all contributed to the structure of the dress. Furthermore, the contrasting fabrics and tonal color scheme reflect the two-tone paint jobs seen on many Bel Airs.
