Universal Accessibility: Airport terminal
This airport corridor and restrooms were designed to accommodate those with or without visual and/or physical disabilities. The corridor was designed as a series of perceptible thresholds appealing to non-visual senses including an exposed ceiling beams as sonic thresholds separating noise of the public seating from the bathroom entrance, heat lamps used as an atmospheric threshold inviting pedestrians into the entrance, and wood to tile transition on the floor acting as a tactile threshold between spaces. Integrated into the structure, grab bars in the restroom stalls are the support for the stall dividers and the hands-free sink system while framing the entire space.
