Space Within Space: Copenahgen Art Gallery Infill

This project is one that I worked on while studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. The goal of the project was to explore the elements of spatial design while creating an art gallery to accommodate six exhibition pieces (a painting, photograph, collage, light installation, and two furniture pieces) in an empty lot between two buildings in Copenhagen. Through study models and drawings I investigated the relationships between new and old facades, art and architecture, and space and program. The proposal of this project was to experience the space within space, starting with the idea of an infill project. The design highlights the simplicity, circulation, and the characteristics of the settings in which to view the pieces.
