Designing an Urban Landscape
A large portion of land in downtown Minneapolis is taken up by surface park lots currently. Not only do those surface parking lots bring excessive storm water run-off, they also undermine the aesthetic quality in downtown. This design project focuses on the possibility to accommodate a School of Ecology in the existing 5 blocks of parking space along Nicollet Mall and Hennepin Avenue. The new school is intended to promote ecology as well as to create a new urban public space in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.
